So I talk of feeding my child and keeping (semi) sane.  I cannot leave out books when discussing my sanity  Libraries are one of my happy places and I have hopefully succeeded in passing on that love of books to my children.  I am always on the look-out for books I know my son will enjoy: loads of interesting details, jokes, a compelling story.

These are only a selection of books that are loved by us.  These books are fun.  They encourage creative thought, imaginary worlds, and most importantly learning to accept ourselves and others.  We are all different.

Audiobooks

The Upside-Down Magic series
By Sarah Mlynowski, Lauren Myracle, and Emily Jenkins.
These books are great for a quirky child - it is "an offbeat series about a group of misfits who set out to prove that life on the other side of ordinary has its charms" (http://www.sarahm.com/upside-down-magic/).

The Fantastic Mr Fox
By Roald Dahl, read by Chris O'Dowd

The Pirates' Mixed-Up Voyage

The way Margaret Mahy uses language in her storytelling is amazing.  Hearing her stories is a pleasure.  My son had this on hold through the library for over 40 days.  He loves it that much (so not into waiting for stuff normally).

Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder
By Jo Nesbo
Wonderfully eccentric characters with magic...
