Conversations at the kai table
The Kai Table at kindy (kindergarten) was a happy place for my son. His lunch box contained food he wanted to eat and chewing in itself is comforting for him. This was where he felt he could talk away, telling stories, and because he was comfortable it meant the teachers worked to engage him in two-way conversation.
SMells
Sharing a table with my son whilst eating strong-smelling food will eventually result in a request for you to leave the table. The request is generally urgent and often not very polite! Smells - and the don't have to be strong - are often overwhelming when you have a hyper-sensitive nose.
